Acura Recall - Fire Hazard

Acura is recalling more than 50,000 2007-2008 TL sedans in order to replace power steering hoses which may be leaking. The accelerated deterioration of the hoses could lead to fluid leaks. While no fires or injuries have been reported, the fluid leak could lead to a loss of power steering assistance, smoking or fire should the fluid which has leaked come into contact with the catalytic converters. Acura is sending notice to its customers beginning in mid-June 2012 and request that they take their vehicles to authorized dealers for replacement of the power steering hose. In any fire in which one of these vehicles is present in or near the structure, the fire investigator should carefully consider whether failure of the power steering hose may have caused or contributed to the fire.
