Chris Brennan - Jury Verdict for Hartford Underwriters in Subrogation Case

San Diego – After a five day trial, a San Diego jury awarded Hartford the full amount it paid to its insureds after a fire for repairs to the home, cleaning and replacement of contents and additional living expenses. The jury found that a wall oven manufactured by the defendant was defective and caused the fire while in a self cleaning cycle. Christopher Brennan represented Hartford through the successful jury verdict.

The manufacturer of the oven disputed the origin and cause of the fire, turning the trial into a battle of the expert witnesses. The jury ultimately agreed with plaintiff that the fire started within the oven’s wiring compartment of the ten year old oven because of a manufacturing defect.
